After School

Our after-school programs position students as authors of their own history.

Students draw inspiration from primary source materials and our unique collection to create exhibitions or publish books on topics in local history.

Due to COVID-19, all education offerings are suspended until further notice. These include programs and workshops at our Pierrepont Street and DUMBO locations, and for our partners at the Brooklyn Navy Yard; special afterschool programs for rising curators and historians; and educator workshops.

In the meantime, please explore our online digital curricula and teaching resources.

Students sit around a table in the Othmer Library.

Teen Council

The Teen Council is our paid internship program for high school students. They curate an exhibition for BHS’s landmark building over the course of the spring semester.

Young Curators & Scholars

Students become authors of their own history in these afterschool programs offered in partnership with elementary, middle, and high schools.
