Virtual Program | Author Eric Cervini discusses The Deviant’s War: The Homosexual vs. The United States of America

Join historian and author Eric Cervini as he shares his new book, The Deviant’s War in this virtual program.

In 1957, a government astronomer named Frank Kameny was dismissed from his position for being a gay man. This event catalyzed a years-long crusade of resistance against state-led purges and blacklisting of suspected queer individuals employed by the government. Hear how this story ties with other struggles for equality during the 1960s and how the battles waged in the halls of Washington, DC came to secure protections against prejudiced treatment. Cervini is joined in conversation by Adam Eli, community organizer and writer.
